What can I do to make up with my black friend?

We were good friends and joked about everything together. For his birthday as a joke I got him a bunch of bananas. He opened the gift in front of his family. His parents kicked me out and I didn't think he was mad but he was. How can I make it up to him?What can I do to make up with my black friend?
wow some friend you are. i'd ask how u would feel if he gave you a box of saltines for your b'day, but you'd probably say you'd think it was funny. you blew it buddy....BIG TIME. there are enough problems in the world without contributing to it with this sort of asinine behavior. i think you should start by writing (yes WRITING ~ on paper...with a pen...) at least two apology letters, one to him and one to his family. give it a week or so, and then call him and ask if you can talk about it; (maybe he'll be able to explain to you the difference between a joke and the irresponsible, reprehensible, stereotypical jerkish stunt that you pulled on him in front of his family.). the ball is then in his court. if he chooses not to talk to you ever again, well...i don't blame him one bit.
